Dallas Delights

My brother Nate and his cute wife flew me out to Dallas for a few days so they could go to Megan's HS reunion while I babysat the kiddos. It was so much fun. Definitely not ready to be a mom yet (these kids wake up at 6:30 on the dot regardless of what time they go to bed!) but it was so fun to hang out with them. Cutest kids ever.

My favorites from babysitting Maddie & the Owenmeister:
1. Baking cookies with Maddie
2. Building a fort with Maddie, eating freshly baked cookies inside, and reading princess stories
3. Swimming with 2 kids and trying to teach Maddie how to play 'Marco Polo'. It was pretty easy since she's only 3 and didn't really understand that she was supposed to close her eyes...
4. TEXAN food. Only the best. Awesome BBQ place for dinner, Taco Cabana, Rita's. Yum.
5. Finding random objects in the toilet (courtesy of the Owenmeister)
6. Maddie's emotional breakdown when I told her she shouldn't teach Owen to throw things in the toilet because someday it could be her barbie. I told her that she was going to be with Owen forever and she just started to cry and say, "But I don't want to be with him forever!" I consoled her and explained to her that once Uncle Zach had also been a little boy but one day he grew up. Then she stopped crying.
7. Making a sad face because Madeleine wouldn't play with me only to have her look at me and say, "Do you need to lay down and have some milk?" Why yes, Maddie. That would be lovely.
8. Late night talks with Nate and Megan when they were around. Nate gives great advice and Megan is just so fun to giggle with.
9. When driving the car: Maddie: "Nicole, I didn't know you knew how to drive!" Nicole: "Yes, Maddie, I'm a grown up. Most grown ups know how to drive cars." Maddie: "Yeah...except for the grown ups who drive jeeps and trucks."
10. Hearing Madeleine randomly use the word 'magnifique' in a sentence. Thank you, Fancy Nancy!
11. Painting Maddie's toes rainbow colors

Anyway, these kids are just so adorable and I could squeeze them all day long. I wish they lived closer but I am so lucky I was able to go spend some time with them!
